Le professeur Ahmet Akman est le choix par excellence pour tous ceux qui recherchent un ophtalmologiste possédant une expertise inégalée dans la chirurgie de la cataracte et du glaucome.

Avec plus de 25 ans d’expérience dans le domaine, il est un praticien hautement respecté et accompli qui s’est bâti une réputation d’excellence.

Il a publié plus de 200 articles à l'échelle nationale et internationale et est l'auteur du livre de renommée internationale « OCT in Glaucoma ». Le Dr Akman donne régulièrement des cours sur l'OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) à l'American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Il a obtenu son diplôme de médecine à la faculté de médecine anglaise de l'université Hacettepe en 1991 après avoir obtenu son diplôme du TED Ankara College en 1985. Il a terminé sa résidence en ophtalmologie à la faculté de médecine de l'université Hacettepe en 1995.

Tout au long de sa carrière, le Dr Akman a été associé au département d'ophtalmologie de la faculté de médecine de l'université Ankara Başkent. Il a obtenu le titre de professeur agrégé en 2000 et est devenu professeur d'ophtalmologie en 2007. Il a également mené des recherches sur le glaucome à l'Université Duke en Caroline du Nord, aux États-Unis.

En 2018, après avoir consacré 23 ans à la faculté de médecine de l'Université de Başkent, le Dr Akman a ouvert sa clinique privée pour se concentrer davantage sur les soins aux patients et fournir un service de meilleure qualité.

Avec plus de 30 ans d'expérience dans le domaine, le Dr Akman a examiné plus de 200 000 patients et réalisé plus de 40 000 chirurgies de la cataracte et du glaucome.

Réalisations académiques clés

Cataracte

• Membre de l'Association américaine de cataracte et de chirurgie réfractive ; préside la séance et présente des études scientifiques lors des conférences annuelles de l'ASCRS.
• Expertise en lentilles trifocales (lentilles intelligentes) et lentilles toriques pour la correction de l'astigmatisme ; fréquemment invité comme conférencier invité à des conférences nationales et internationales.
• L'un des chirurgiens les plus expérimentés de Turquie en chirurgie de la cataracte assistée par laser femtoseconde (FLACS) ; a de nombreuses publications et présentations sur le sujet.
• Membre actif de l'unité de cataracte et de chirurgie réfractive de l'Association turque d'ophtalmologie.

Glaucome

• A publié le premier livre anglais sur le glaucome par un auteur turc, « Optical Coherence Tomography in Glaucoma », en 2018 aux éditions Springer.
• Instructeur principal du cours OCT qu'il a planifié et organisé, auquel participent chaque année 30 000 ophtalmologistes au congrès de l'American Academy of Ophthalmology.
• Membre de la Société européenne du glaucome, de la World Glaucoma Association et du conseil exécutif des relations à l'étranger de l'Association turque d'ophtalmologie.

Maladies rétiniennes

• Au début de sa carrière, le Dr Akman a travaillé sur les maladies de la rétine telles que la dégénérescence maculaire, les déchirures rétiniennes et les problèmes oculaires diabétiques ; a publié de nombreux articles scientifiques sur les maladies médicales de la rétine.

• 50 articles de recherche dans des revues internationales à comité de lecture avec près de 900 citations.
• Plus de 70 articles de recherche dans des revues scientifiques nationales à comité de lecture.
